The liposuction surgery is performed here in the office. It is done either under local anesthesia or an epidural type anesthesia. I usually recommend that the patients do have an anesthesiologist here just to give them some intravenous sedation like you would get for a colonoscopy to minimize their discomfort. There is really no need to have any pain or discomfort during this procedure. The surgery is done here in the office and the patient is placed in garments and allowed to go home. The patient will return the next day, as I mentioned for a laser treatment to minimize their discomfort and then they come back in another four days or five days and all the garments are removed and the patient is allowed to increase her activities.
